Massachusetts Attorney General Maura Healey has filed suit against the local franchisee of national used car chain JD Byrider, alleging that the company, “ripped off Massachusetts drivers by offering predatory loans for defective and inoperable cars.” The suit seeks compensation for thousands of customers who paid exorbitant interest rates, and were forced to purchase a service contract. The AG’s office claims that more than half of JD Byrider’s deals fail or end in repossession.

JD Byrider has Massachusetts dealerships in Brockton, Dorchester, Dartmouth and Springfield, all run by Venturcap Franchise.
